Angels Arms
Today as I lay you
In the arms of the angels
Who have come from heaven
To carry you safely to God,
I try to stay strong
And I try to understand,
Why my precious little child
Has to leave me this way.
Today as I lay you
Into the protection and love
That comes in God’s arms,
I feel my heart breaking.
I know that you are happy
Not afraid or in pain.
But I long to hold you
And see your precious face.
Today as I lay you
In the arms of the angels
I know I will see you again.
I pray for the strength
To make it through the days
To not give up on life
For the sake of those
Still with me here on Earth.
Precious child may your smile
Brighten the heavens above.
May your love shine down here
Bathing us in it’s warmth.
Knowing you are happy
Knowing you are safe
Makes it only a bit easier
To lay you in the angels’ arms.

This poem was created because of the loss of a child by a friend. I have placed it on a postcard to make it easy to share with friends and family. I plan on making these available to funeral homes to offer as an option to for families to give out at the funeral of their child. While it's focus in babies & young children, it really speaks of the loss of a child at any age.
